I frequently walk my dogs in Beaman Park and I always go halfway along the Laurel Woods Trail. I have been noticing signs and listening to wood knocks for several months…. And the day I’m referring to, my dogs refused to walk in front of me on the trail. After much assuring and coaxing, my dogs would only walk behind me….slowly. I found this very odd. About a half mile in on the Laurel Woods trail, coming from the top parking lot…I spotted a woven tunnel like nest, down in the valley between the ridges. At the same time, I heard a wood knock from behind me, from the south side of the ridge. Within ten seconds, I heard another wood knock on the north side of the ridge. As I took out my phone to take a picture of the nest, a rock landed within ten feet of me and my dogs. I took that as a sign for us to go back to my truck, and my dogs were in total agreement! Double time all the way back to the truck. I have a picture, but I don’t see where I can add an attachment.
